Honeydew melon is low in calories but rich in vitamin C and potassium, so it is best for the immune system and heart health. Although honeydew melon is bland if not harvest at the right time, a perfectly ripped honey is just WOW, juicy, sweet, and perfect for hydration

I can guarantee you’ll hate honeydew melon if you eat it underripe. Therefore, give them time to fully ripen so you can enjoy their amazing taste, full of nutrients and vitamins

But how do you know when it’s ripped to be taken off or not? Let’s break down the signs that will help you eat the juiciest one.

Golden Honeydew melon

The top sign of a fully ripped honeydew melon is its stem itself. Generally, a clean, slightly sunken, and dry stem is the indication that the melon is fully ripped, and it’s the time to harvest this fully juicy, mouth-watering fruit.

But if you feel a rough surface on the stem side, then it’s too early to pick it up. This means you’ve to give it a little more time so you can enjoy the best taste possible.

Ripe Honeydew melon

Color is the prime indicator of a ripped honeydew melon. Go for the one with yellow to white skin. Don’t cut out the green one, as this means it still needs some time to be completely ripped.

Remember, with the creamy yellow skin, the texture of the melon should be dry and smooth.

Moving to the next sign. It’s time for your nose to work. Take a good sniff from the blossom end (the side away from the stem).

What will it smell like? Sweet and flowery smell. Suppose there isn’t any smell that leaves it as it is.

Honeydew melons on ground

Of course, ripped melon will be heavier due to the loaded delicious juice inside. Just lift it; the ready-to-harvest melon will be a bit heavier than it looks like. If the melon just feels lighter, though, it isn’t very pleasant.

Another physical sign is little imperfections. A few tiny scars on the rind is a good sign and this means the melon has fully grown to the full.

But remember, it shouldn’t contain much bigger cracks. Just go for the melon with the scar but a solid surface.

Holding honeydew melon

Now, press the blossom end of the melon. If it goes with the thumb, get ready. It’s time to cut the melon from the vine. But if it’s too hard or too soft, leave it. It’s not fully ripped. Just the perfect hardness is important.

Last but not least, it’s the coolest sign. Tap the melon gently and listen closely. A deep, hollow sound? Go and pick up the baskets as they are ready to be harvested.

This is the sign your melon talking to you, “Hey, pick me up.” isn’t this is the coolest sign, as you don’t require any tools, just simply your ear?
